Bali is the most well-known tourist spot, and is great for resorts and surfing (especially Kuta Beach). To drive from Melb to Sydney on the quickest route (which is relatively boring) takes around 9 hours plus stops. I'm going to Australia from Los Angeles for a couple of weeks with my girlfriend, and was hoping to get some advice on things to do/see based on what we like. Coastal route would take at least 13 hours plus stops - look up those two cities on a map and that will give you an idea of distance. Maybe go there first too.Melb to Warnambool is a long way for a single day. For much of the way, it is a single lane each way with overtaking lanes every 5km. Absolutely stunning place.Also, the night life in Jakarta- the capital- is great, and the entire country is cheap enough that, combined with its proximity to Australia, makes for a convenient and rewarding destination for any traveler. I’m planning to take a few months of leave in 2 year - 3 years time. East Coast Australia Itinerary in 6 Weeks 1) Sydney – Kicking off with the bustling beauty of Sydney is the hallmark of a promising itinerary for the NSW holiday.
We hung around Thailand and took a week-long motorbike trip through the North, then headed to Laos, which is a very under-rated place in my opinion. Back to Katoomba in the afternoon to collect your luggage, and get a train back to Sydney in the late afternoon.Day 7 - Fly to Melbourne in the morning, spend the afternoon looking around central Melbourne.Day 8 - Morning in central Melbourne, afternoon and early evening in St Kilda.Day 9 - Drive the Great Ocean Road and stay for the night in Warnambool. You should set down some specific things to do.

When I went to Melbourne I felt it was more of a place to do things than see things but I was visiting friends so it could be different.You're spending a big percentage of your time driving around. We're big fans of nature, the outdoors, and animals. You'll see wild Koalas along the way. This historic precinct is the first white settlement in all of Australia and traditionally the place were first the convicts and later the poorer classes used to live. Vietnam was amazing. After checking into accommodation see the Three Sisters and climb down the Giant Stairway to the valley floor that afternoon.Day 5 - Take the train to Wentworth Falls (10 minutes down the line from Katoomba) and take the trail that goes down the cliffs to the base of Wentworth Falls. Any recommendations?Avoid Bangkok. I hope you are immune to jetlag cos that is pretty intense from the start. Any thoughts/comments on our high-level itinerary to Australia in November would be greatly appreciated.
