Winner of the 1996 International oboe competition in Toulon, France, and the 1990 Francois Shapira award in Israel, Dudu Carmel studied at the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Tel-Aviv and received his KA Diploma from the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe as a student of Thomas Indermuhle.

Dudu Carmel is the Assistant Principal oboist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the oboe teacher at the Rubin Academy for Music and Dance in Jerusalem. Carmel performed several times as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta, he appeared in recitals in prestigious concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, recorded for radio stations, such as Rias Berlin and the Voice of Music in Israel and participated in chamber music festivals in Israel, Germany, Switzerland and Brazil. Between 1992 and 1997, he was the principal oboist of the In-House orchestra in the New Israel Opera.

 

 

Since 1998, he has been playing as a guest oboist in the Budapest Festival Orchestra. Dudu Carmel is a founding member of the New Israel Woodwind Quintet. He has recorded two records with his quintet for the Israel Music Center and a record with Thomas Indermuhle for Camerata.
