The Slovene Philharmonic String Chamber Orchestra is an ensemble composed of fourteen musicians who are also members of the Slovene Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. The ensemble was founded in 1993 with the support of the Ministry of culture of Slovenia with the purpose of performing on stages around the country where the larger Symphony Orchestra is unable to appear. In twenty years of its existence, the ensemble has performed in more than 350 concerts in Slovenia and abroad with numerous renowned soloists. In recognition of its artistic quality, the ensemble received several awards, some of them being the Prešeren Fund Award in 1999, the Župančič Award in 2004, the Betetto Award in 2006 and the Plaquette of the City of Ljubljana in 2012.
