Peter Wünnenberg studied at the Academy of Arts in Berlin with prof. Koji Toyoda and attended master classes with Rainer Kussmaul, Yfrah Neaman and Valery Gradow. He was a member of the student orchestra Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and the European Chamber Orchestra, and Symphony orchestra Münster. In 1995 Peter Wünnenberg became a member of the orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin.

As a soloist and chamber musician Wünnenberg has performed at the Vienna Festival Wiener Festwochen, the Vivaldi Festival in Epinal, in the USA, South America, Middle and Far East. He is especially specialized in the area of early music. His musical spectrum includes historical instruments. Thus he expanded his knowledge through studies on the baroque violin with Elizabeth Wallfisch in London.
