This feature is a parody and contains the original movie combined with a comedic commentary by Mike, Kevin and Bill from RiffTrax (former stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000). Is this the best Rifftrax ever?

I'm not sure what you'd call this genre of film really... it's that comedy/musical/variety-show type nonsense from the 60's. Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations I laughed through most of it, out loud several times.

Despite appearances by the likes of John Carradine, Lon Chaney and Basil Rathbone, I can't help but feel that Mike, Kevin and Bill didn't do all they could with this 65-minute quasi feature (the original, per IMDb, was 20 minutes longer). No... but Mike, Kevin and Bill do some good riffing and to me this is more along the lines of what MST3K would have shown back in the day (or coming days...). Only Mike, Bill & Kevin can make it watchable. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. Up until the early '80s, hillbillies were a genre of humor in Hollywood. 137 notes Jun 15 2016 12:18 am.

This is a pretty short episode and apparently the original was a bit longer, which may explain the plot disconnects.

It starts out promisingly enough, with our RiffTrax crew mentioning their prior send-up of MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE and saying, when the country-music trio (Ferlin Husky, Joi Lansing and Don Bowman) are forced to spend the night in a Tennessee haunted house, "Let's go all Grey Gardens with it." Wasn't able to enjoy the cheesy movie due to the mindless, irritating chatter. Seriously, my wife and I laughed out loud numerous times, the guys had lots of good riffs on this one.It starts out promisingly enough, with our RiffTrax crew mentioning their prior send-up of MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE and saying, when the country-music trio (Ferlin Husky, Joi Lansing and Don Bowman) are forced to spend the night in a Tennessee haunted house, "Let's go all Grey Gardens with it." That's what two of our main characters, who I'll call Fred and Daphne, are on a road trip to Nashville to do, along with their jittery manager (feel free to call him Shaggy). To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Lon Chaney Jr. and John Carradine can't help matters either - all three are wasted. The photography is vivid but the Countrypolitan tunes are generic, and so over-engineered that even a songfest inside a moving convertible sounds like an echo chamber. RiffTrax, the guys who make movies funny, bring their comedic riffing treatment to this cheesy 60's non-scary horror classic!

I'll admit this wasn't the very best thing Rifftrax has ever done, but I'd easily say its in the top 50% of the two or three dozen movie-riffing efforts I've seen by them (examples of lesser, but by no means "one star" efforts by Rifftrax would include "Dinosaurus" and "Kiss of the Tarantula"). If it wasn't for Mike, Kevin and Bill, I'd never go anywhere near this movie. One of the best Rifftrax I've seen other than there 'live' episodes Like hip hop clichés today, impoverished people were often depicted trying to make it by getting discovered by the music industry.
